National Networks
NIUSE currently has four local branches covering the Belfast, Causeway, North West and Southern areas of Northern Ireland. These branch meetings provide an opportunity for practitioners working in the field of vocational training and employment for people with disabilities, to discuss local issues and raise their concerns as well as exchanging information and providing support for each other.
NIUSE SEA Project Roadshows
We are delighted that the NIUSE Supported Employment in Action (SEA) Project will be presenting their findings and outcomes from over two years work that the project has completed at the next NIUSE Branch Meetings. The aim of the SEA Project is to explore the policy gaps that affect people with disabilities, in particular, people with significant disabilities, accessing and maintaining employment. The project also researched the model of Supported Employment from a service users’, practitioners’ and strategic perspective. As part of the project, two research groups (Beneficiary Focus Group and Practitioner Working Group) have been established and explored the socio-economic barriers to employment and how they have been addressed through utilising the model of Supported Employment. The SEA project will outline their key findings from the project and the lived experience of how Supported Employment has been a successful model in accessing and maintaining employment.
